KairosED™ — For Parents & Guardians

Parental Consent & Student Data

Effective Date: March 19, 2026

This page explains how KairosED™ works with your child's school district, what information we collect about students, and how you can exercise your rights as a parent or guardian.

What Is KairosED™?

KairosED™ is an AI-powered platform that school districts use to support classroom instruction. Depending on the tools your district has enabled, KairosED may be used by your child's teachers to create lesson plans and assessments, and by your child directly for homework assistance and test preparation.

KairosED is not a consumer app. Your child cannot sign up for KairosED independently. Access is controlled entirely by your school district.

How Your Child Gets Access

Student accounts are created only by district administrators using official school enrollment records (SIS/roster data). Your child's school, not KairosED, is the gatekeeper for account creation.

Student-facing tools (such as the Homework Tutor) are disabled by default. A district administrator must explicitly enable these tools for your child's school before any student can use them. When your district enables these tools, they take on responsibility — as the educational institution — for ensuring appropriate consent has been obtained for students under 13, consistent with COPPA.

What Information We Collect About Your Child

KairosED collects only what is necessary to deliver the educational service:

  • Account information: Name and school email address (provided by the district);
  • Usage logs: Which tools your child used and when, stored as anonymous request records (prompts are stored only as cryptographic hashes — we cannot reconstruct what your child typed);
  • Safety events: If a district safety rule is triggered, a brief preview of the flagged content is logged for administrator review.

We do not collect: date of birth, physical address, phone number, photographs, financial information, or any information beyond what is listed above.

We do not sell student data. We do not use student data for advertising. We do not use student data to train AI models.

Your Rights as a Parent or Guardian

Under FERPA and COPPA, you have the right to:

  • Review the personal information we hold about your child;
  • Request correction of any inaccurate information;
  • Request deletion of your child's AI activity records (fulfilled within 10 business days);
  • Opt your child out of student-facing AI tools.

How to Opt Out

To remove your child from KairosED™ student-facing AI tools:

  1. Contact your district first. Your child's district administrator controls account access. The fastest path to opt out is to contact your school's technology administrator or principal and request that your child's KairosED account be disabled.
  2. Contact KairosED directly. If you are unable to reach your district, you may contact us directly at privacy@kairosed.ai with your child's school name and email address. We will work with the district to disable the account within 5 business days.

Data Retention and Deletion

AI activity records are retained for a district-configured period (default: 30 days, maximum: 365 days). Records are automatically purged after this window. Account records (name and email) are retained for the life of the account and deleted upon written request or when the district deprovisions the account.

To request deletion of your child's data, email privacy@kairosed.ai with the subject line "Student Data Deletion Request" and include your child's school name and school email address.
